28
Perhaps I'm simply processing all of the heartfelt birthday wishes I've received over the past 28 days of my life. I want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to send words of love and well wishes for all facets of my life-- I truly received them.
However, this isn't just about me. It is about what's to come, about my entire existence. I tend to feel this way often. I'm sure you do, too. Deep down, you appreciate the attention on your birthday, yet it reminds you that this same love is something you need every day to keep going. I often wish life could be seen through my eyes, but receiving everyone's messages reminded me of how unique each of us truly is.
We all experience life differently, but our lessons are universal. It's now 2:46 PM, and friends have stepped into my workspace to wish me a happy birthday, sharing jokes and moments that only we understand.
There isn't much I can say at this age, because this is my first time living in year 28. Everything I know comes from the years before-- and the beauty of it is that I can embrace this age without feeling constrained by anything. I feel liberated.
As expected, friends and relatives have asked what I'm doing on this day, as well as every other birthday I can remember. Instead, I wanted to share my feelings here. This is my gift to the world.
Wherever you are, take a moment—pour yourself a glass or cup of whatever you like. Sit with me, unravel with me, and maybe even start a thought-provoking conversation about the years you've spent here with someone... anyone.
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. And I hope we continue spreading a dose of love to others every day.
O'bree
Count your life by smiles, not tears.
Count your age by friends and family, not years.
